Aquamarine is actually part of the beryl family and usually forms as hexagonal crystals and is often referred to as the “colour-of-sea-water” stone. The lenses of the first eyeglasses constructed in 13th century Italy were often made of beryl as glass could not be made clear enough. The approximate stone size is 2 cm – 3 cm. Believed to have positive health benefits, these gemstones can be used for a variety of purposes.
