Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and made drinking cups decorated with it in the belief that it would prevent Drunkenness. This prized semi-precious gemstone was formed millions of years ago in volcanic rock in Brazil. The approximate stone size is 2.5cm – 3cm.
